tabletennista.com a window into Chinese TT

So as much as I love tabletennista.com I sent out an email requesting some basic info on Super League. Like a team ladder and player's win/loss records. It's round 13 and it's getting a little tiring piecing the puzzle together. Great site though, considering it is in English, kinda. Let's see what happens and if I get a response.

Timo embraces China and China embraces Timo

So aside from being concerned that the meat contains too much clenbuterol (a substance for which fellow German Ovtcharov was suspended and then acquitted last year)  Timo has embraced China where he has been competing alongside Ma Lin in the Chinese Super League.
His  record of 6 wins and 3 losses is not too shabby and neither is his Chinese. He has  has even opened a Weibo account (the Chinese equivalent to Twitter).

Christian Suss received a serious injury in late June playing an exhibition match!

He has undergone knee surgery and it is still unknown when he may return. Video anyone?

Oceana Cup July 2011

So one of the many vague tournaments that pop up in the southern hemisphere is the prestigious Oceana Cup where players from Austarlia, New Zealand and the surrounding islands compete for a spot at the World Cup in Paris during November.

So I'm not sure if the big story was:
1.favorite and hometown Adelaide hero William Henzell (who seems to have spent most his life in Sweden and Melbourne)  returning to win the event against fellow TTedge founder Robert Frank. (TTedge is their online and offline subscription coaching business). or
2.whether the event was unprecedentedly broadcast on TV throughout Ausralia and New Zealand or
3.whether Henzell's and Frank's bathing at night in Henzell's parents  freezing swimming pool video should have pulled.

Just moved and am waiting for an internet connection

Timo Boll finally defeated in China's Super League

Korean seeds drop like flies in 1st round of 2011 Japan Open

Starting with 3rd seed and 2004 Olympic champ Ryu Seung Min who was defeated by the young exciting 22 yo Taku Takakiwa from Japan in 6 sets. (13-11, 16-14, 4-11, 13-11, 10-12, 11-7). In fact the Japanese young guns knocked out any Korean seed that got in their way.
Ryusuke Karube defeated Kim Min Seok, the no.8 seed (11-9, 6-11, 10-12, 11-8, 11-7, 11-7), Kentaro Miuchi defeated Jung Young Sik, the no.15 seed (11-8, 11-5, 11-13, 11-8, 11-8) and Hidetoshi Oya defeated Yoon Jae Young, the no.13 seed (9-11, 11-2, 11-6, 8-11, 5-11, 11-9, 12-10).
And of course China, not to be out done, unleashed its own brand of teenage assassins.
Poor old 2nd seed Oh Sang Eun lost to another 16 yo from China Yin Hang after just losing to 16yo Lin Gaoyuanin at the Korean Open in 7 sets. 11-7, 7-11, 11-6, 5-11, 11-3, 4-11, 11-8.
Speaking of Lin Gaoyuan, he defeated Japan's Kenta Matsudaira, the no.8 seed, in six games (5-11, 8-11, 11-4, 6-11, 11-8, 11-6, 11-5). Liu Yi, who had an impressive Korean Open, defeated Japan’s Kaii Yoshida, the no.7 seed (8-11, 11-9, 11-2, 12-10, 11-6) and Wu Jiaji defeated Kazuhiro Chan, the no.12 seed (3-11, 6-11, 11-7, 11-6, 11-9, 11-4).
